Spektacles? Our kennel name is derived from one of the unique facial features of the Keeshond.
Spectales ("eyeglasses") are an important feature of the Keeshonden's facial expression (in addition to the perpetual "smile"). This distinctive characteristic is combination of markings and shadings in the eye area which must include a dark line slanting from the outer corner of each eye toward the lower corner of each ear. These markings make the dogs look intelligent - which they are!
